WHAT PRODUCTS DO THE PROS USE TO CLEAN ARE REVIVE PAINT?

Your vehicles exterior its outermost covering is constantly fighting a war against contamination, oxidation, heat deterioration, scratches, grime, dirt etc…. . Often times to remove dirty, people rub rough towels against vehicles paint as a quick way to shine the vehicle, all this will do is damage the surface and often times scratch the paint. If you rub a dirty surface, or you hit it with something or rub something rough on it, it will scratch. Tiny scratches, scuff marks and swirls are like scars on your paint. The more scuff marks, scratches, and oxidation you have on the surface of your vehicles the more it will dull and limit its shine and protection.

Compounds, Polishes and Swirl Removers are all very similar in that there mail purpose is to remove these small flaws and imperfections in your vehicles surface and leave behind a clean shiny surface that is glaze, wax or sealant ready.

Compounds Polishes and swirl removers all contain tiny particles of different grits or “ sizesâ€�  that dull the sharp edges of scratches and swirls in an attempt of  removing the scratch or dulling the angle which in turn reflects light differently and makes the scratch less apparent. .

Most scratches occur in the same way when an outside object is thrown or dragged across the surface cutting into the paint and leaving behind jagged or sharp edges in the clear coat. Because the edges are so sharp and your vehicles paint is so smooth the scratches become most apparent when light catches on the rough edges of the scratch.

Compounds, polishes, and swirl/scratch removers come in different grits such that the professional can choose the most suitable strength or cutting ability of the grit.  Compounds are labeled accordingly Heavy Duty, Medium, Light and Ultra Light depending on the size of the grit.  The larger the Grit it the stronger the products ability is to clean and or wear down the edges so the swirl or scratch.

Compounds, polishes, and swirl/scratch removers are not only for scratches but can also be used for old and dulling paint to remove the burn or damaged layer or can be used to remove orange peal and oxidation as well.

Diamond Cut Compounds  are a part of a complete finishing system that ranges from compounds through paint protecting products. All Chemical Guys products are designed with the needs of their customers as the first priority. As a result you will find Diamond Cut Compounds extremely user-friendly. Crystalline gloss will be obtained without the headaches of dust, slinging, sticking or gummed up/blocked pads. The speed of Diamond Cut Compounds is impressive: it cuts quickly leaving a high gloss shine.. Clean-up is fast because it rinses off easily with water or a clean towel and its dust free removal minimizes shop contamination. The entire Diamond Cut Line of  Compounds was developed to work well on single- stage urethane, clear coated vehicles and all types of clear coat finishes.

PRO-POLISH- Foam Pad Polish+Gloss Enhancer -Hand or Buffer Applied Silicone Free Final cut polish. Dual Action Cleaner/Polish.

Insta Cut Polish 15+Gloss Enhancer - Hand or Buffer Applied Silicone Free Final cut polish. The crème form of this product makes it easy to use by hand or with a machine. A professional-grade product, it should be used with caution by novices. Used properly, it is safe for all solid, metallic and clear coat finishes. Once you have addressed the problem area(s) with the CGC (Chemical Guys Compounds), you must complete the process by following up with Insta Cut 15+Gloss Enhancer  Swirl Mark Remover or if swirls are “hardly noticeableâ€� or “ not noticeableâ€� follow CGC with PRO-POLISH Foam Pad Polish+Gloss Enhancer, then seal and protect it with your favorite wax or sealant.

CGC-(Chemical Guys Compounds):

Order of Intensity: 6 being the strongest and most heavy duty (some products have can be substituted for Silicone free Body Shop safe products if so desire)..

1.         PRO-POLISH- - Final step for hard to see and very thin extremely light scratches.

2.         Insta Cut Polish 15+Gloss Enhancer- Minor scratches, swirls, water spots and oxidation are vanquished, delivering a flawless, deep wet-looking shine

3.         CGC-1-        Ultra Light Compound or Diamond Cut 2000

4.         CGC-2 –      Medium Duty Compound or Diamond Cut 1500

5.         CGC-321-    Laser Buff

6.         CGC-4          Heavy Duty Compound or Diamond Cut 1000

QUICK NOTES:  Some products in the order above can be substituted for other products  depending on needs. Revive Glaze can be substituted for 2 (Insta Cut) and Crystal Glaze can be substituted for 1 (PRO-Polish).  Both options should deliver similar results however, Both Revive Glaze and Crystal Glaze do contain silicones that will mask and cover light scratches.  For a customers vehicle the glazes will offer a faster shine with less effort.  For a High paying customer or for the perfectionist, the 2 polishes will deliver a true polish that will remove most swirl marks completely instead of simply filling them in.

CGC-1- Ultra Light Compound –formulated with a ultra light grit compound very light cleaning ability, intended specifically for: very light scuff marks, spider webs in paint, swirl marks and very light oxidation

CGC-2 – Medium Duty Compound –formulated using mild and medium abrasives. Formulated to remove medium to heavier orange peal, scratches and blemishes.

CGC-4 Heavy Duty Compound - formulated using heavy duty large grit size. For seriously damaged paints, “ when all else has failed� Heavy duty compound delivers with the maximum strength of a compound.

CGC-321- Laser Buff- Formulated to do the job of 3-Compounds in one. CGC-321 microscopic imported powder grit is formulated to deliver a medium duty cleaning compound at first, that quickly  breaks down to a light compound and then to an ultra light compound polish, to deliver the smoothest scratch free surface.  CGC-321’s revolutionary powder particles break  down and get smaller and smaller depending on the heat and speed of the method of application. Perfect for scratches, oxidation and just about any job that calls for 3 compound (3- Medium,2-Light,1-Ultra Light).

CGC-321- Laser Buff  is the fastest and easiest way to remove moderate scratches and  surface imperfections because it works like a wax, a polish and a cleaner.  It is fortified with waxes and silicones to shine and protect while it cleans and restored gloss. It levels and eliminates surface imperfections, an aggressive polish that begins working like a compound starting at 1000 grit and breaking down to 50 center points (very thin). Works especially well on clear coats.

Method of Application:

Apply: By hand or with buffer.

All Chemical Guys Products are uniquely formulated and engineered to deliver spectacular results even out under the sun. If applying with buffer:

Use a white polishing pad or for added cleaning ability step up to an orange light cutting pad.

DIRECTIONS FOR COMPLETE SCRATCH OR SWIRL REMOVAL:

1.         Wash Vehicle – Wash-N-Wax- ideal because of its high lubricity formula

2.         Clay Surface- Even if you are using a compound it is always best to remove as much surface contamination before using a buffer or compounds.

3.         Survey the Job- Select the best chemicals to deliver the desired effect.  If paint is contaminated use a clay.  If it is dull or oxidized you may want a compound. Some paints may simply require a quick cleaning product like Revive Glaze. While newer paints may simply need a good sealant like Crystal Glaze or a Premium wax like Carnauba.  All surfaces should be sealed to achieve the maximum protection for months instead of days or weeks.

4.         Selecting a Compound:

Always feel the surface and chose the best compound or polish for the job.  It is always best to start with a lighter compound then a heavier duty and work your way up if needed.  If using a high speed buffer star with the lightest duty compound first. The weight of the buffer and the speed/ RPM (Revolutions per minute) often time swill increase the strength of products.

Revive Glaze can be substituted for Insta Cut and Crystal Glaze can be substituted for 1 (PRO-Polish).  Both options should deliver similar results however, Both Revive Glaze and Crystal Glaze do contain silicones that will mask and cover light scratches.  For a customers vehicle the glazes will offer a faster shine with less effort.  For a High paying customer or for the perfectionist, the 2 polishes will deliver a true polish shine that will not disappear when the silicone is washed of on 3-16 weeks.

5.         Glaze or Wax: select the bet product to achieve the optimal desired results.  If step “4â€� achieves a desired result it can be followed with a premium wax or glaze to achieve optimal shine, and brilliance.  If applying by hand Wax’s tend to deliver a deeper wetter look and are always easy on easy off, even in the sun.  Carnauba wax is a great way to go or for clients looking for a wetter shine, Butter Wet wax delivers a wet premium shine.  If applying with a buffer glazes delivery better surface lubricity, hence allowing the buffer to glide easily across the surface bringing about a polished mirror finish and also removing final and hardly noticeable imperfections step “4â€� may have missed. Glazes will not harden as easy and wax and often times will deliver a deeper shine.

6.         Sealants- To achieve optimal protection and durability select a proper sealant for the job. 7.         Follow Up- A quick shine can be achieved through the use of Spray wax or Carnauba Quick Shine Waterless Carwash. These two quick detail sprays can also be used after any of the above 6 steps to remove left over product or as a quick surface cleaner in-between steps.
